Nisi (Island) of Ioannina

Cave of Perama
One of the most important caves in the world is located just four kilometers from the city center of Ioannina. It belongs to the horizontal caves with a length of about 1km. The various forms of stalagmites and stalactites, wealth and the combination of colors create an unsurpassed natural beauty. In 1940 it was used as a haven for the inhabitants during the bombing by the Italians.
Ancient Theater of Dodoni
The theater of Dodoni is one of the largest and best preserved ancient Greek theaters, with a capacity of approximately 18,000 people. It was an integral part of the temple of Dodoni and was constructed in the 3rd century BC. In the framework of the ambitious building program realized by Pyrros, the king of Epirus, in order to reform the Pan-Hellenic temple and give it monumental character.
Archaeological Museum of Ioannina
The archaeological museum of Ioannina, with a total area of 1,200 sqm, contains collections of exhibits that cover a long period of time from the Lower Palaeolithic period to the Roman times (3rd century AD). The focus is mainly on the findings of the ancient oracle of Dodoni. The new format includes approximately 3000 archaeological finds from all over Epirus. Made in order to reform the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary and give it a monumental character.
Wax Museum of Pavlos Vrellis
The wax museum of sculptor Pavlos Vrellis is one of the sights you should definitely visit. Three thematic sections of the Museum: the Pre-Revolutionary Period, the events of 1821 and the pictures of the World War II.
Together with Samaria is the most popular, in Greek territory, definition of the concept of "gorge". It is about 10 km long and its intersection takes about seven hours of exciting journey. The route starts usually from Monodendri where a steep descent leads to the bed. The small river has water from November to June. Crossing the gorge is therefore easier in the rest of the months. The path evolves into splendid dense forests while near the rocks of the walls very rare wildflowers and herbs are famous for which Vikos is famous.
